Guidelines for entering data at the Directory database

General

1. Consult the Directory <www.cid-unesco.org> to get an idea of the final destination and format of your data. Check if you are already listed.

2. Language is English. Titles of organizations or functions of persons can written in the original language, then in English translation, of space available.

3. No words in capital letters, except initials. Avoid abbreviations.

4. If in doubt, just send your full data by Email and we will do the rest; or ask our Directory Team: president@cid-unesco.org

5. We do not include entries without a permanent postal address.

6. Write your data one field under the other, within the message. Do not send it as attached file.

7.  Listing your data in the Directory does not imply any connection to the International Dance Council - CID or any obligation whatsoever.

The fields

Name

-  Mr. for all males, Ms. for all females. Dr. or Prof. before Mr. or Ms.

-  Given name first, then family name, then comma, then function or position in the Organization

-  If in doubt, do not write position. One name per entry, except for couples.

-  When two persons have positions in the same Organization, write two entries with the same other data.

-  When no name of responsible person is known, write only the title of the Organization.

-  Maximum 50 characters and spaces

Organization

-  Write the title of the Organization (school, company, magazine, group, business, foundation, association etc.) in the original language. If you have its translation in English, write it too (in parenthesis).

-  Maximum 100 characters and spaces

E-mail

-  Write a second Email address (after a semicolon ; ) only if space available

-  Maximum 50 characters and spaces

URL

-  Write a second URL (after a semicolon ; ) only if space available

-  Maximum 100 characters and spaces

Street

-  Number before or after the street name, according to usage in the country; just copy from the source. Do not translate terms like Street, Place, Avenue etc. Avoid abbreviations.

-  Maximum 50 characters and spaces

Locality

-  Postal code first (with the prefix for the country, if you know it), then location.

Eventually, after comma, the region, if known.

-  Maximum 50 characters and spaces

Country

-  Examples: U.S.A., U.K., Austria (not Republic of Austria)

-  Maximum 50 characters and spaces

Tel_Fax

-  Tel. before the number, then comma, then Fax or Tel. & Fax Parenthesis with prefix for out-of-country dialing, if you know it. Then number for local calls.

Examples: Tel. (1.960)365.4529 for the USA or Canada, Fax (49.30)428.3538 for Germany.

-  Maximum 100 characters and spaces

Descriptive

-  Keywords for future search, like: School, Company, Group, Teacher, Supplier, Organization.

-  Kind of dance, like: ballet, folk, modern, samba, ballroom, tango

-  For folk dance, specify: Irish, Israeli, Greek, International,

-  Type of activity: amateur, professional, recreational, performing

-  Other details: if in doubt copy from the original source, we will translate them.

-  No advertisements, no value judgements (avoid verbs and adjectives)

-  Maximum 200 characters and spaces
